Case Study 2017—2023
PermaResilience
From a local landscaping company to a seven-figure digital education business.
PermaResilience began as an ecological landscape design and installation company. Over six years, it became a global education brand built around a simple mission: help people create healthier, more meaningful and resilient lives.

01 · The Origin
Building something I believed in.
PermaResilience was inspired in large part by my son and the kind of world I wanted him to inherit.
But the business was never really about gardening. It was about helping people build healthier, more meaningful lives.
My family had experienced firsthand the value of growing organic food, cooking from scratch, raising animals and becoming more connected to the land. I wanted to show other people that they could incorporate those things into their lives without abandoning the modern world.
We taught people how to grow food, raise animals, design resilient properties, create homestead and farm-based income, and ultimately build lives that felt healthier and more purposeful.
02 · Product Ecosystem
From expertise to a pathway toward independence.
The courses met people at different stages, but every offer moved toward the same outcome: greater confidence, resilience and control over the food their families depended on.
We weren’t simply selling gardening information. We were creating a practical education pathway for people who wanted to become less dependent on fragile systems and more capable of meeting their own needs.
I developed four online courses covering subjects from organic gardening and ecological business design to our flagship program, The Holistic Homestead Academy—a comprehensive Permaculture Design Certification program.
IndependenceBreak free. Live resiliently.
- 01LearnUnderstand food, land and natural systems.
- 02GrowDevelop practical, repeatable skills.
- 03Build ResilienceReduce dependence and create security.
- 04Create FreedomBuild a healthier, self-reliant life.
Creating valuable educational products was only half the challenge. We still needed a reliable way to find the right people, earn their trust and bring them into the ecosystem. So I built the engine.
The System Structure
A connected path from attention to enrollment.

- 02Webinar
- 03Email Sequences
- 04Sales Pages
- 05Enrollment Nurturing
03 · Growth System
Building the marketing engine.
Organic content, social media and paid advertising brought warm and cold audiences into an ecosystem designed to educate before it sold.
- 01Earn Attention
Organic content, social media and paid advertising.
- 02Create Value
Lead quizzes, free video courses, lead magnets and webinars.
- 03Build Trust
Automated email sequences educated and nurtured leads.
- 04Make the Offer
Relevant products, campaigns, upsells and cross-sells.
Marketing Principle“The objective wasn’t simply to extract as much revenue as possible from an audience. The marketing had to genuinely help people—even when they never bought anything.”
Traffic to Lead
Organic & Paid Traffic Funnel Landing Pages
Dedicated landing pages turned attention from social content and paid advertising into owned leads by offering useful, highly relevant training for each audience.

The Next Step · Lead Nurture
Turning new leads into informed, ready-to-act prospects.
Webinars gave prospects a deeper understanding of the problem, demonstrated a practical path forward and naturally introduced the full program as the next step.
Webinar Funnel
Education did the heavy lifting.
The strongest campaigns helped people understand the problem, see a better path, and decide whether the program was right for them.
Conversion Assets
One system. Many paths to the right offer.
Over time the ecosystem grew increasingly sophisticated: five sales funnels, webinars, video sales letters, segmentation, testing, downsells, cross-sells and ongoing optimization.
04 · The Product
What students received after enrolling.
The sale was not the finish line. It opened the door to a structured learning experience designed to help students move from inspiration to confident, practical action.
After purchasing, students entered a complete digital learning environment with organized lessons, supporting resources, clear progression and access to a worldwide community working toward similar goals.
Inside the Program
A complete learning experience—not just a collection of videos.
The course dashboard organized a substantial curriculum into a clear path students could follow at their own pace, revisit when needed and apply directly to their homes and properties.
05 · By the Numbers
The engine produced measurable growth.
06 · The Work
Wearing almost every hat.
PermaResilience wasn’t a business where I simply came up with the idea and hired other people to execute it.
Especially in the beginning, I built virtually every part of it.
I was the owner, strategist, web designer, programmer, offer creator, copywriter, funnel builder, social media marketer, video editor, media buyer and educator.
My previous experience in web development and online marketing gave me the breadth to do that, but building PermaResilience forced me to push those skills much further. I learned to build complete digital offers and the technology behind them, turn expertise into products people wanted, and improve results through customer psychology, testing and conversion analysis.
As the business grew, the job changed. I built a team and handed off social media management, Facebook advertising and accounting. My role increasingly became not just doing the work, but designing the systems, making decisions and coordinating the people responsible for executing them.
07 · What Mattered Most
The revenue told one story. Our students told another.
People wrote about moving away from processed food, teaching their children where food came from, finding purpose, building homesteads and starting businesses. Some of those messages brought me to tears.
“We proved that doing meaningful work and building a successful business don’t have to be competing objectives.”
08 · The Next Chapter
Knowing when to move on.
By 2023, I was ready for another chapter.
Rather than simply shutting down something I’d spent years building, I turned PermaResilience over to my close friend and fellow farmer Stefano Creatini, who continues operating the business today.
PermaResilience accomplished something even bigger than the revenue it generated. It taught me what I’m capable of building.
What This Means for Your Business
You may not need a permaculture company. You may need someone who can make the whole system work.
Someone who can see how the offer connects to customer needs; how messaging connects to conversion; how advertising connects to a funnel; and how the funnel, email system, technology and team have to work together to produce a business result.
I can move between strategy and execution—understanding the customer, sharpening the offer, writing the message, building the funnel, working with the technology, analyzing what is happening, finding the bottleneck and deciding what needs to happen next.
